New Building Projects

Update #8 - 1/21/2011

Overall Project (All Buildings) Information

All five new buildings are under construction at this time in varying levels.  The initial scheduled completion date of all buildings was the Fall of 2013.  The District is still one year ahead of schedule for the overall project.  In order to save on construction costs, early in the new construction process a decision was made to move the PK-1 Building up two years in the schedule and bid that work in a combined package with the 2-3 and 4-5 buildings on the elementary campus.  By doing so the district has been able to save approximately $4 million, enabling us to add items such as technology packages and eno boards into every classroom (the base model would have only allowed for four eno boards per school) and upgraded floor finishes.

The middle school (grades 6-8) building is currently on track to open in the Fall of 2011, and the high school is still on track to open in the Fall of 2012.  Moving the PK-1 building up two years in the project tightened the schedule for the buildings on the elementary campus and the project needed very good winter weather conditions in order to complete these three buildings for the Fall of 2011.  Unfortunately, that has not been the case this winter.  Currently, the construction managers feel confident that the PK-1 building will be able to be opened in the Fall of 2011.  The combined 2-3 & 4-5 building is currently scheduled for completion by the early Winter of 2011.  At this point, the anticipated move-in date for these buildings would occur over winter break of next school year.

This is the current schedule according to the construction managers, and barring any severe changes or problems it will hold true for the buildings scheduled to be opened next school year.  Therefore, the District will be working immediately with the construction managers, architects, transportation and our business department to create a transition plan for grades 2 through 5 students and staff for the beginning of next year through winter break.
