HAPPY NEW YEAR AND
THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR WEBSITE!
January 2013
School safety will continue to be a top priority of the Maple Heights City Schools. After the tragic incident of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, many community members, parents and staff have called and sent emails stressing how critically important safety must be in our schools. We employ a security staff and have installed state-of-the-art video surveillance equipment with restricted access entrances at all of our new buildings.
In response to your concerns, we have taken further measures to insure school safety. One precaution is to have unannounced police visits in our schools on a regular basis. These visits may range from just a visual inspection of the premises or may be as invasive as having drug dogs inspect the school or having officers conduct “wandings” of staff, visitors and students to prevent weapons from being brought into our schools. We strongly encourage you to contact the central office with any concern about safety at any time. We also have an anonymous tip line for you to provide us with any fact or rumor that you may hear regarding safety. Our anonymous tip line is 216-452-0524.
Thank you for your concern for our schools and our students. I would like to commend all community members, parents, staff and our Board of Education who provided valuable input, and thank you to the Maple Heights Police Department and our City Officials for their cooperation and partnership in addressing these safety concerns.
