Dr. Price Wins LifeChanger of the Year Award

Dr. Shay Price, Principal of Maple Heights High School, will be named a national LiferChanger of the Year award winner today, Monday, May 2, 2022, at Maple Heights High School. Dr.  Price was selected as one of 18 winners out of 850 nominations for K-12 school employees from across the country. She will receive a $3,000 prize, awarded as a $1,500 individual prize and a $1,500 donation to her school.

Dr. Price has been recognized for her tireless leadership and dedication to her students and community. Helping students succeed has been Dr. Price's mission for over twenty years as an educator. She believes every student has the right to an education based on high standards and achievement. She has increased numerous achievement levels and has been instrumental in obtaining 100% industry credentials for numerous career-technical programs. 

During the COVID pandemic, while maintaining a full-time job, battling cancer, and homeschooling her autistic daughter, Dr. Price also obtained her doctorate in education to meet both a personal goal and a professional one. It is important to Dr. Price that her students are aware that she values education – her own and theirs.
 
LifeChanger of the Year is a national program sponsored by National Life Group that annually recognizes and rewards K-12 school district educators and employees who make a difference in students' lives by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership. The LifeChanger of the Year program receives hundreds of nominations from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

To be considered for an award, nominees must be K-12 teachers or school district employees who make a positive difference in students' lives.  Award winners are selected based on the following criteria:

  • Make a positive impact in the lives of students
  • Enhance their school or district’s atmosphere, culture, and pride
  • Demonstrate exemplary leadership at the school and/or district level
  • Possess a proven record of professional excellence
  • Show commitment to building a nurturing environment that supports learning
  • Adhere to the highest moral and ethical standards
