MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT - 8/5/21 ALL CALL - Return to School Information

August 5, 2021

Dear Maple Heights Families,

Welcome Back!  I wanted to provide you with some general context for the safety protocols we have developed to start the school year related to the recent guidelines we have received from our local, state and national health agencies.  We will continue to monitor health data and guidance on an ongoing basis, and we will make modifications to our plans when needed.

Students will return to 5 day a week, in person learning in our district. We will return to the normal school hours at each building that were in place prior to the pandemic.  Those times will be communicated by building principals/supervisors to staff and families.  Masks will be required for all students and staff while inside all buildings for the start of the school year.  Students will also be required to wear masks on buses.  We will not require masks in outdoor facilities on school/district property.

Additional safety supports:

  • Visitor access to our buildings will be extremely limited
  • Each of our school buildings have been equipped with air cleaning systems
  • We have established and will maintain a thorough cleaning and disinfecting routine in all school facilities
  • Current guidance makes no recommendation of distancing for masked individuals or vaccinated individuals. The current recommendation for non-vaccinated persons without masks is 3 foot spacing.  Our schools will be far exceeding these recommendations by working to maintain a 3 foot spacing between all masked persons whenever practical.
  • When implementing “mask breaks” staff will be asked to extend themselves and students to at least the recommended 3 foot spacing (6 feet when practical)
  • We are strongly encouraging all individuals who are eligible to be vaccinated to do so. We will continue to work with our partners to create opportunities for this to occur.

Additional building/site specific details will be provided by building principals.  If you have questions after receiving that information, please reach out to them for clarification.

The first day of school this year is Monday, August 16th. We are so looking forward to seeing our students!

If you have any questions, please contact our administrative offices/board of education at (216) 587-6100.
