Educational and Career Advancement Center (ECAC) is our signature college and career accelerated learning program designed to motivate, engage, and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential in their college or career employment journey. Created to support 10th-12th graders or repeat 9th graders, ECAC supports students wanting to eliminate credit deficiency, turn around academic failure, and achieve college or career opportunities. ECAC is housed at The Board of Education on 5740 Lawn Avenue.
With a focus on our district’s vision and mission, ECAC is designed so that every student can succeed. Our team works with each student and parent to create a customized morning or afternoon schedule that fits their unique needs. Our curriculum and instruction include a web-based platform, APEX Learning, and one-to-one interaction with academic and support staff aligned with the State Standards.
Our team understands that students need to be prepared for post-secondary learning and/or entrance into the workforce upon graduation from our high school. Quarterly students have the opportunity to receive academic enrichment through college and university presentations and/or visits and volunteering in the Maple Heights community. Life skills training is provided through Career-Based Intervention, Jobs for Ohio Graduates (Jogs), and Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U).
A safe and orderly learning environment built upon mutual respect and positive behavior is a priority. We believe in holding high expectations for all staff, students, and families to support a positive climate and culture conducive to teaching and learning. With the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), students and staff are acknowledged for meeting school-wide expectations and goals. Students are encouraged to participate in athletics and other extracurricular activities, including Homecoming and Prom.
