Welcome from the Principal

Welcome from the Principal

It’s summer break! While your family is enjoying this well-deserved time, I want to encourage you to incorporate some areas of academics into your fun. Please continue to encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes a day. Also, please have your child keep a journal that captures some of their summer fun. I would love for your child to share this with me when they return in the fall.

While you are vacationing, we will be busy welcoming new families, preparing next year's classes, and fine-tuning our instructional program. Next year, at Abraham Lincoln School, we will focus on increasing academic achievement. The instructional program will focus heavily on:

  • Improving reading skills by ensuring that students are getting a solid foundation
  • Advancing students from their current reading levels while minimizing learning gaps
  • Providing students with targeted interventions based on data
  • Using math protocols to improve foundational concepts in math
  • Providing leveled small group math instruction with the same intensity as language arts

The building leadership team developed these priorities by completing a needs assessment, staff input, and analyzing student data.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe summer break. I look forward to hearing about all of your fun summer learning experiences. I am excited to return next school year, energized and ready to hit the ground running.
