Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning. Too many absences not only can affect achievement for the absent student but also can disrupt learning for the entire class. Because attendance is so important, and in response to increased accountability measures under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Lincoln Elementary has been trying to improve student attendance with Stay In The Game Perfect Parties. Research shows that students who consistently miss school are at risk of lower academic achievement, failure, and even dropping out of school altogether. Chronic absentism begins as early as pre-kindergarten.
Every month we celebrate our students who come to school everyday, are not late, nor leave school early. 76 students earned a dance party with Stay In The Game shirts, and a popsicle. As you can see from the Video and photos they had a great time. Parents, we do understand that things happen and students, may need to be late or leave early for circumstances out of their control, so, we will be celebrating students who improve their attendance also. More info to come. #stayinthegamenetwork
