On Friday May 3, the Maple Heights High School PBIS/Wellness team hosted an all-school Game Day to celebrate the end of testing and the students doing a great job of staying safe and engaged in learning this year. With funding designated for student wellness, the team was able to purchase a variety of indoor and outdoor games that will be used during lunch daily, as well as ice cream treats for all students and staff.
Throughout the building, there were different activities set up offering many options for ways to participate. From cornhole to Uno, there was something for everyone. Staff members were encouraged to help students to learn to play the games and to try something new. Students were given a punch card, which listed the five PBIS “P.R.I.D.E” behavioral expectations (Prepared, Respectful, Invested, Determined and Engaged). Students received a punch on their card for each activity they tried. After trying four games, they were able to go to the ice cream line in the cafeteria to receive their choice of dessert.
Students and staff were able to enjoy some quality downtime together and get to know one another a bit better. A wonderful time was had by all and the team looks forward to planning more school-wide events next year to strengthen our sense of community and celebrate Mustang PRIDE!
