The National Honor Society inducted 18 new members in a ceremony held on November 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. The new members include seniors Myles Adams, Omani Houston, Ty’Mier Jones, Isaac King, Tim Powell and La’Nia Robinson. The juniors inducted were Tay’Vianna Brown, Jamee Brown, Jaylah Davis, Gabrielle DeLoach, Kaylin Goines, Bryanna Hugh-Keith, Khaniya Laney, Marveon Martin, Eleisha Mclntyre, Ramone Pernell, Enniellies Perez lrizarry, and Braelynn Shepard.
In order to be eligible, students had to have a 3.5 grade point average and be involved in at least three school activities. An evaluation on character and leadership was also completed by the teachers to determine those to be initiated. The event included light refreshments and a candle lighting ceremony to induct the new members. New members received certificates and special gifts and took the National Honor Society oath. Two-year members received a special gift and gave speeches.
Two-year members include seniors Kailah Akram (President), Suda Chou Chan (Fundraising Chairperson), Fortune Fields (Secretary), Teliah Golliday (Student Liaison), Caitlin Podolski (Vice President), Zayana Sowell (Community Liaison), Makaila Hardy, Keiton Harrison, Heaven’Lee Leonard, De’Asia Williams, Luke Anzlovar, Corwyn Collier and Chinaemelu Ezeanyika.
Special guests invited to the ceremony included the Board of Education members, the high school administrators, and parents and family members. Other plans for the school year include working the food bank and raking leaves. Congratulations to all National Honor Society members!
