Interscholastic athletics are an integral part of Maple Heights City schools.  A legacy of hard work, energy, effort, and dedication that our student-athletes, coaches, and staff have displayed has led to success on and off the field.  There is a strong community here of student-athletes and alumni that return to give back to our scholars.

Coach Milkovich is an alumnus and is entering his 43rd season here at Maple, he’s won 49 championships in both the old GCC and the LEL, including the current streak of 12 LEL championships in a row.  The wrestling program has 48 individual state champions, and 849 dual meet victories.

Our girls’ volleyball program has been named LEL champions 15 times since 2004 and just recently again in 2023 making it 16 times.

Our football program won states in 2010 and has made five play-off appearances in the last five years under alumni Shaquille Washington.

The mission of the Maple Heights City Schools’ Athletic Program is to develop, teach, and inspire our student athletes with sportsmanship, leadership, commitment, teamwork, and integrity.

The vision in each sport will be to develop our student athletes into productive, contributing citizens of our community and society. The emphasis will focus on providing our athletes a positive foundation for their development within the program; creating allegiance between the middle school and high school, establish friendly participation, sportsmanship, and a positive feeling of school loyalty and pride.

We believe in the dignity and worth of each individual. Eligible students may participate in the program regardless of race, creed, sex, disability, or national origin.
